Dakota City, IA – The City Council for Dakota City is continuing to approve the process for upgrades to the city’s water treatment facility.
During the meeting of the council on Wednesday, Aug. 12 the held a public hearing to approve how the payment and bonding would work. Both resolutions were from their bond attorney. The first resolution stated that the contract had been award to Baker Mechanical and that the bond would be against the city’s water revenue. The second resolution set the borrowing “not to exceed amount” at $950,000.
According to City Administrator Angelique Berry, the total cost of the project will be around $973,123. The city has already obtained a Community Development Block Grant of $300,000 to put towards the project. Berry says that the city has set their own limit of borrowing $677,000 but the hope is to keep the amount bellow $500,000.
No members of the public were present for the public hearing for the two resolutions. Both passed unanimously by the council.
