Deer dings Dodge, bounces into second impact

Humboldt County, IA – No injuries reported after a deer is struck by two different vehicles early Tuesday morning.

Chief Deputy Cory Lampe of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office reports on the incident. His report states that on Tuesday, Aug. 4, Sara Heaton, 23 of Woolstock was northbound on Highway 169 during the early parts of the morning. In the dark a deer emerged from the west ditch and was struck by Heaton’s gold Dodge Grand Caravan. The impact caused the deer to enter the southbound lane where Adam Mickelson, 23, of Rutland was driving through. The deer was hit by Mickelson’s white Chevrolet Express G3500 as well. The deer did not survive the incident as a result of both impacts.

The incident resulted in minor damages to both vehicles that were driven away from the scene. No injuries were reported by Chief Deputy Lampe as a result of the incident.
