Humboldt, IA – A local power cooperative is assisting their sister co-op in making repairs after large storms swept across central and southern parts of the state.

Corn Belt Power Cooperative in Humboldt will be sending a crew to the Des Moines Area to assist in repairs to power lines after Monday’s storms. Vice President and Corporate Relations Ryan Cornelius share some of the details with KHBT.

He says that the local Corn Belt team will be sending 15 workers in total to assist with Central Iowa Power Cooperative’s (CIPCO) repairs. CIPCO is a sister co-op of Corn Belt Power as a Touchstone Energy Cooperative. Corn Belt sent down five workers first to assist in the repairs while a group of ten was sent out to Roland to make repairs. Once the work in Roland is done the ten will go to assist CIPCO and the five other Corn Belt workers.

Cornelius didn’t give a timeline on how long the repairs will take but did confirm there were extensive damages to polls and power lines in that area.
