Humboldt, IA – Possible minor injuries are suspected after a convertible takes out a city light post and hits and SUV in downtown Humboldt.
Officer Susan Rutz of the Humboldt Police Department reports on the incident. Her report states that on Tuesday, Aug. 18, Joan Elberg was eastbound on Sumner Avenue. As she approached the intersection with Fourth Street South her red Chrysler 200 touring convertible crossed the center line, hit a light post before striking a parked silver Toyota 4Runner.
Witness Matt Dominick, who was assisting Elberg at the time of emergency response’s arrival, stated the driver told him she remembered driving past Dollar General but nothing after that. Officer Rutz reports that she requests the driver be tested for possible medical conditions related to the blackout. The Humboldt Fire Department was called and assisted in cleaning up gasoline that had dripped from the convertible.
The incident resulted in disabling damages to the Chrysler and 4Runner. Officer Rutz reports that Elberg was transported to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital for further evaluation with possible minor injuries.
