Des Moines, IA – Iowa’s Secretary of State is encouraging all Iowans who recently moved to update their voter registration ahead of the coming election.
With the 2020 General Election coming up in November the Secretary Pate wants to assure all Iowans are safe during the election. This includes once again mailing out absentee request forms to all registered voters.
He says that those needing to update their registration should do it “as soon as possible.” He says he strongly encourages all Iowans who moved to take the time to adjust their voter registration. The process is quick and easy by going online and using an Iowa driver’s license or non-operators ID. He says it is always vital to keep ones voters registration up to date, especially going into a general election.
Much like with the primary election in June, Iowa voters can expect a ballot request form in the mail. Secretary Pate says this is due to the ongoing pandemic. All active voters will be receiving an optional request form but addresses need to be accurate in order to assure they get to the proper hands. The secretary of state also says this is a great time for eligible voters who aren’t registered yet to go ahead and do so.
Iowans who need to update their voter registration or register to vote can do so online at sos.iowa.gov/registertovote. Absentee ballot request forms are expected to be in the mail in late August.
