Humboldt volleyball dominates Clear Lake for fourth NCC win

Humboldt, IA – Another day at the office for Humboldt High School volleyball yields the same positive results in the season record.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, the Humboldt Wildcats hosted the Clear Lake Lions on the volleyball court. It was yet another dominate win for the Wildcats who would win in three straight sets. The first set win would be 25-10, second 25-11, the final set was 25-7.

Humboldt volleyball put on a show from the first serve to match point. They would start the match jumping up with a quick eight point lead in the first set. The second set would start closer but around the ten point mark Humboldt was able to find a run and build a run. From that point on it as Humboldt dominating the scoreboard.

Humboldt put up a total of 35 kills, led by Senior Outside Hitter Jori Hajek who had 13 on 27 attempts with two errors and an attack percentage of .407. Hajek also had eleven digs giving her a double-double. Setter Deni McDaniel also recorded a double-double of 25 assists and 17 digs.

An important part of any volleyball match is the serve and pass game. Humboldt was strong on the day in this area as they recorded a total of 13 team service aces. Right Side Jayda Hoefer led the team with six.

Humboldt has improved their record to 24-0 on the season and 4-0 in the North Central Conference. The next match for Humboldt will be their fifth NCC match as they host St. Edmond on Tuesday, Oct. 6. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
