Humboldt volleyball’s perfect day maintains the perfect record

Carroll, IA – Humboldt High School Volleyball finishes another perfect week with a tournament win at Carroll High School.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, Humboldt Wildcat volleyball took part in a tournament in Carroll. Once against the Wildcats walked away from the event with a perfect record, going 5-0 on the day. Humboldt also had a very efficient day in which they only lost one of the eleven sets the played in on the day.

The first match was against the Ar-We-Va Rockets and was a 2-0 straight sets win for Humboldt (21-11, 21-9).  As a team the Wildcats hit .232 with Senior Jori Hajek leading the way with nine kills with a .562 attack percentage (zero errors on 16 attempts).

The second match was against IKM-Manning and was the second of four 2-0 sweeps for Humboldt (21-3, 21-10). As a team Humboldt attack percentage was .400 (26 kills, six errors on 50 attempts). Setter Deni McDaniel recorded a double-double with 18 assists and eleven digs.

The third match for Humboldt was against the hosting school Carroll. This match is where Humboldt lost their only set on the day but still won the match 2-1 (21-15, 11-21, 15-12). In the back and forth match Senior Kendal Clark led the way with nine kills attacking at a .318 percentage (two errors on 22 attempts).

The fourth match on the day was against Newell-Fonda. The first set was close (25-23) but the second set easy victory (21-10) for Humboldt secured the 2-0 straight set win. Hajek recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs in the match. The team hit an efficient .312.

The fifth and final match for Humboldt on the day was against South Central Calhoun. Humboldt grabbed and easy straight set win with duplicate scores of 21-6 in both sets. As a team the Wildcats hit .541 on their attack and all but one player who participated in this match recorded at least one kill.

Following Humboldt volleyball’s 5-0 tournament display they are now 22-0 on the season. Next up for Humboldt will be their third North Central Conference match as they host Webster City. .
