Minor charged with three Class D Felonies following Sunday stabbing

Rolfe, IA – A minor is charged with three counts of a Class D Felony following a stabbing on Sunday the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office reports.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a stabbing that had occurred northwest of Rolfe.

The victim is an 18 year old male from Welcome Minnesota who had been assaulted at a party and was en route to the Pocahontas Community Hospital with stab wounds to his face and body. The victim was located by law enforcement on Iowa Highway 15 south of Rolfe. Ambulance services were dispatched to the location and the victim was transported to the Pocahontas Community Hospital. The victim was subsequently airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for Medical treatment.

An investigation into the incident was conducted resulting in a 15 year old male from Laurens, IA being charged. The juvenile is charged with three counts of willful injury-causing bodily injury, each Class D Felonies. The juvenile male was transported to the Youth Emergency Services Center in Cherokee where he is being held.

The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pocahontas Police Department, the Laurens Police Department, the Pocahontas Ambulances, Rolfe Ambulance and the Pocahontas County Attorney’s Office.
