Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office investigates a fatal incident

Humboldt County, IA – The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal car incident.

The announcement comes from a press release from the local sheriff’s office. The report states that during the early morning of Saturday, Oct. 10, the office received a report of a single vehicle accident on Michigan Avenue. Deputies Ryan Stein and Tim Fisher responded to the scene along with Sheriff Dean Kruger.

Upon arrival the responding team found a heavily damaged Ford F-150 on its top in the roadway. The preliminary finds indicate that the F-150 was driving north on County K and continued north on to Michigan Ave., a gravel road. The vehicle left the roadway, struck the ditch and re-entered the roadway, coming to a rest on it’s top.

As a result of the incident, Gary Berte, 58 of Livermore, was found deceased inside the vehicles. Berte is the registered owner of the vehicles. The accident remains under investigation at this time.

The Humboldt County’s Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the HCMH Ambulance and Humboldt Fire and Rescue.
