Humboldt, IA – After Monday’s official count, Trish Erickson has been named the new auditor for Humboldt County.

Erickson received nearly 70% of the vote, running against Chris Freund and Cody Lawman. Erickson is currently the deputy auditor and drainage clerk for the county. She says she has been doing that for nearly ten years.

“With that, I am responsible for all the minutes and coordinating with the contractors, the board of supervisors, engineers, along with landowners.”

Erickson also deals with levees or assessments with each drainage district as projects are completed. Prior to the election, Erickson was processing absentee request forms.

“We’ve had more requests this year than ever for the general election. It’s been great; a lot of fun actually. It’s been invigorating.”

In her new role as auditor, Erickson’s tasks will be suiting the needs of the board, acting as a secretary. As well as instructing employees on upkeeping the building and codes. She says she looks forward to working more with the community and thanks everyone for their support, whether it was a phone call, a text, or voting for her.

“I appreciate it very, very much. I hope to do the best job I could possibly do.”

Erickson says she is happy about the outcome of the election and hopes to serve the community for “hopefully many years to come.”
