Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School’s fall play, “The Wonderful World of Oz” debuts this weekend at the R. Wesley Carlson Auditorium.

Actors will be masked the entire play and spectators are required to wear a mask and distance between groups. Director Emily Wiebke says she is excited to present the performance after the spring play was cancelled in March. Many of the fall play’s actors were previously cast in the spring play.

“Most of them were in the spring play that didn’t get to happen. They’re just very excited to get to present something and be on the stage again.”

“The Wonderful World of Oz” is based on the book of the same name by L. Frank Baum. Wiebke says people familiar with the Wizard of Oz movie may be surprised with the differences in the play. But it will still feature characters the audience should recognize including the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, Dorothy, and her dog, Toto.

The fall play will be held Friday and Saturday at 7 PM. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students.
