Humboldt wrestling wins one, loses one in NCC triangular

Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School wrestling grabs a victory one during a triangular to start North Central Conference action.

On Thursday, Dec. 11, Humboldt Wildcat boys wrestling hosted the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys and St. Edmond Gaels in a triangular. It was a close loss again the Cowboys and dominate win over the Gaels for the Wildcats.

Against Clarion-Goldfield Humboldt jumped out to a quick 30-11 advantage. This includes six wins by fall for Humboldt and two by decision. However, CGD found a six match winning streak that included two wins by fall, one major decision and three decisions to pull out and win the team score 36 to 30. The Cowboys finished 2-0 on the evening after beating St. Edmond earlier.

Humboldt rebounded nicely against St. Edmond. Even though the win was mathematically guaranteed by forfeits (eight of them equaling 48 points). Of the six matches wrestled between the two teams Humboldt won four, all by decision. One of their losses was by decision and the other by fall.

Humboldt boys wrestling will participate in a tournament on Saturday, Dec. 12, for their next competition. The Wildcats travel to Ogden and will wrestle five duals over the course of the day. The tournament starts a 9 am.
