Slick roads cause SUV to turnover in a ditch

Humboldt County, IA – No injuries reported after an SUV loses traction on frosty roads and slides into a ditch along Highway 3.

Chief Deputy Corey Lampe of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office files the report on the single car incident. His report states that on Tuesday, Dec. 8, Jacob Shroeder, 18, of Fort Dodge was westbound on Hwy 3 in the early morning fog. According to the report Shroeder lost traction due to the frost covered roadway, crossed the center line and entered the south ditch. As a result his silver Buick Rainier rolled in the ditch and came to a rest on the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

The report states that the incident occurred at approximately 1:55 am but was not report until 6:08 am by a passing motorist.

The incident resulted in “disabling damages” to the Rainier that was towed away from the scene. No injuries were reported by Chief Deputy Lampe as a result of the incident.

He reports that no citations were given due to the road surface conditions.
