Wildcat boys basketball handle Ogden with ease for second win

Humboldt, IA – Humboldt High School boys basketball grabs their second straight dominate win during their home game against Ogden.

On Monday, Dec. 7, the Humboldt Wildcats hosted the Ogden Bulldogs. It was an 80-35 win for Humboldt who were untouched all night by their opponent.

In the first quarter Ogden attempted to keep pace with the Wildcats who pushed the tempo early to get a quick 22-7 lead. By the half the lead would be 37-16. Ogden began to apply full court pressure during the second and third quarter. Half way through the fourth quarter Humboldt managed to get the 35 point lead required for a running clock situation.

As a team the Wildcats shot 55.2 percent from the field and 47.4 percent from long range. They also dished out 19 assists and had 15 steals. Humboldt out rebounded Ogden 37-17.

Leading the way for Humboldt for the second straight game was senior forward Sam Fischer who had 20 points. Fischer also grabbed 12 rebounds (six offensive, six defensive) for the double-double. Junior guard Caden Matson finished the night with 12 points.

For Odgen their leading scorer was Lane Snedden with 13 points on 6-10 shooting. He was the only Bulldog to score double figures.

Humboldt boys basketball is now 2-0 on the season following the win. Next for the Wildcats will be their third straight home game on Friday, Dec. 11, against Clear Lake. This is the first North Central Conference game for Humboldt. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:45 pm.
