Kossuth County Sheriff rescues animals from situation of neglect

Whittemoret, IA – The Humboldt Vet Clinic and Peace Creak Animal Rescue assisting in the care for animals rescued in Whittemore.

On Monday, Jan. 11 the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office reports they responded to 407 Clay Street in Whittemore about a possible animal neglect investigation. Upon arrival the responding officers discovered what they perceived to be a potential concern of officer safety.

In a follow up report on Thursday, Jan. 14 the Kossuth County Sheriff reports they helped rescue 8 dogs and 10 chickens from the residence. The dogs were transported to the Humboldt Vet Clinic for medical evaluation and treatment. The Peace Creak Animal Rescue in Humboldt will care for them until adoption families can be found.

The Kossuth County Sheriff also reports in efforts to calm rumors that no bodies were discovered on the property. There continues to be no immediate threat of public safty from this investigation.
