Humboldt, IA – People Service is reporting the break and repair of a water main in the south side of Humboldt.
On Tuesday, Jan. 26, the City of Humboldt reported the main break. People Service, Inc’s Ryan Miller tells KHBT the break was located along Taft Street South in front of one of the homes.
Upon investigating the break Miller says the main was resting on bedrock and limestone that had shifted due to the frost in the ground. This shift caused a break that was repaired within 24 hours of it being reported.
There was some concern about that some of the house might lose water pressure in the area. Miller says that no one reported this to be the case but People Service did issue a 24 hour boil order.
The road over the water main break did need to be cut into. At this time there is simple rock filling the hole. Concrete will be added in the spring.
