Humboldt, IA – The City of Humboldt is joining the efforts in helping get a portion of the Three Rivers Trail paved.

As previously reported, Humboldt County Conservation is looking to pave a portion of the trail that is also referred to as the Gotch Park Trail. This stretch starts south of Humboldt and goes north before ending west of KHBT.

Conservation is applying for a max grant of $1.2 million through COVID-19 grant funding. Despite the grant not requiring any sort of “matching funds” from local entities the county agreed to committee $150,000 if the project were to be awarded to help make the application more appealing.

Conservation requested the city provide a letter of support for the project as well as provide some funds to help the application. City council agreed to provide $25,000 to the project from the Hotel/Motel Revenues.

This was approved unanimously.
