Algona PD investigating the death of three individuals

Algona, IA – An investigation is underway after 3 people were found dead inside an Algona residence Monday evening.

According to the Algona Police Department, a 911 call was received at 7:51 PM Monday advising officers that a homicide had taken place in the 400 Block of South Harlan Street. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the bodies of 3 individuals inside the residence.

Autopsies will be conducted on the 3 individuals by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s office. Names are being withheld at this time awaiting notification of family members.

In a statement released this morning, Algona Police say there is no threat to the public as a part of this investigation. The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Algona EMS, the Kossuth County Medical Examiner’s Office, the Kossuth County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation all assisted with the investigation.

This is an active investigation and more information will be release when it becomes available.
