Humboldt, IA – It was announced recently that longtime Humboldt softball coach Doug Van Pelt is retiring as head coach of the Wildcats Softball program after 25 years of service. Van Pelt had been the head coach of the Wildcats since 1997 and won 616 games, leading Humboldt to the State tournament 5 times. Humboldt High School Athletic Director Greg Thomas says Van Pelt left a lasting legacy at Humboldt High and will be missed.
Thomas has known Van Pelt for over 20 years and says he was great to work with.
