Wildcats football faces Estherville in battle of unbeatens

Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt football team faces a stiff challenge tonight as the Wildcats who are the 7th ranked team in 3A hosts the #1 ranked team in 2A, the Estherville Lincoln Central Midgets on Armed Forces Night.

Both teams come into tonight’s game undefeated and 2-0, and Wildcats Head Coach knows Estherville is a big challenge but says preparation for this week has gone well.

Humboldt’s offense has been cooking through two games, as the Wildcats are averaging 38 points per game, and have put up 908 yards of total offense, with Senior quarterback Caden Matson is tied for third in the entire state of Iowa with 9 passing touchdowns. Junior receiver Will Orness is tied for most receiving touchdowns in Iowa with 6.

The Wildcats will be tested against an Estherville Lincoln Central team that has allowed just 7 points through two games this season, while their offense is averaging 37 points per game.

Humboldt’s honorary captain is Anthony Dvorak of 1-194 Field Artillery Battalion in Fort Dodge. Dvorak was a 2002 Humboldt High School graduate and a member of the Wildcat football team.
