Wildcats football tries to stay unbeaten in homecoming match up with Ballard

Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats put their 4-0 record and # 4 ranking in the 3A AP Poll on the line tonight as they  host the 2-2 Ballard Bombers on Homecoming night from Mason Maach Field in Humboldt. The Wildcats are coming off a 40-12 win over Boone last week, while Ballard got their second straight win at home, blanking Atlantic 48-0.

The Wildcats offense has remained steady all season, averaging 35 points per game, Senior Caden Matson leads all of 3A with 15 touchdown passes while Junior receiver Will Orness leads 3A with 9 touchdown receptions.

On the other side, Ballard is lead by Senior quarterback Ashton Hermann, who is 6th in 3A with 8 passing touchdowns. he also has 4 rushing TD’s and averages a whopping 8.5 yards a carry. Wildcats Head Coach Derrick Elman knows his defense will have to do their jobs to contain Hermann and the Bombers offense.
