Dakota City, IA – At Monday’s Humboldt County Board of Supervisors Meeting, Clifton Kalafatich, President of the Humboldt County Housing Development Corporation presented to the Board a request of funds to the County for $7,500 to the housing corporation for 2022. Kalafatich says the funds that HCHDC gets from the County and the City of Humboldt are used to conduct engineering studies, provide matching funds for state and federal grants and low interest loan programs, pay for professional services and conduct County housing needs. Kalafatich highlighted projects that HCHDC are working on, including a partnership with the Humboldt Community School District. Kalafatich has more on that project.

Other projects Kalafatich highlighted included partnership with Soyland Homes to construct two single family homes on two in-fill lots as immediate solutions to workforce housing.

In regards to the funding request, no action was done at the meeting but the Board will consider the request for the $7,500 and make a decision at a future Humboldt County Board of Supervisors Meeting.
