Humboldt, IA – Two Humboldt High School athletes signed their National Letters of Intent to play football at Iowa Universities on Wednesday. As previously reported, Caden Matson committed to Iowa State on Sunday and signed with the Cyclones on Wednesday. Colby Lane committed to NAIA Briar Cliff University in Sioux City on December 20 and signed with the Chargers on Wednesday. Lane says he’s excited to fulfill a lifelong dream.

Lane explains why  he chose Briar Cliff.

Lane chose Briar Cliff over Mount Marty and Buena Vista and will play for Shane LaDage at Briar Cliff. He plans on continuing to play tight end in college.

Caden Matson also made it official by signing with Iowa State to play safety.  His dad Corey Matson coached Caden in high school and says he’s extremely proud of his son.

Humboldt Head football Coach Derrick Elman says he’s happy and excited anytime one of his athletes gets an opportunity to play college athletics.

Congratulations to Caden Matson and Colby Lane on their signings with their respective schools and a belated congratulations to Ben Kuehnast who also signed with University of Northern Iowa in December.
