DES MOINES, IA – It’s game day for the Humboldt Wildcats as Humboldt faces Davenport Assumption in the 3A State Quarterfinals tonight Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Senior Jacob Heier says it’s an opportunity of a lifetime.
Humboldt is making their 1st state tournament appearance since 2014 while Assumption is back in the state tournament for the 2nd straight year. The Wildcats respect Assumption but Heier says the focus is just on playing Wildcat basketball.
Head Coach Jason Thurm knows Assumption is a talented team with quality players such as the 6’9 Center Ivan Prug, who shoots 50% from 3 point range and their leading scorer Noah Mack, who averages just over 16 points per game. However, Thurm is confident in his team as well.
