Calhoun County man charged with murder

Pomeroy, IA -The Calhoun County Sherriff’s Department reports that a Pomeroy man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after a man was shot and killed on Saturday. 59 -year-old Anthony Hinners was found dead at 210 S Ontario St in Pomeroy shortly after 4:25 p.m. on Saturday with a gunshot wound to the chest.

After a joint investigation from the Calhoun County Sherriff’s Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, and in consultation with the Calhoun County Attorney’s Office, 66-year-old Michael Hinners was arrested and charged with one count of First Degree Murder a Class A felony. He is being held at the Carroll County Jail.
