Humboldt, IA – Monday was a busy day for Humboldt Wildcats Athletics, as there were multiple teams in action. The Wildcats girls soccer team defeated rival Webster City 1-0 behind an Elsie Hubbell goal on a corner kick late in the first half. Wildcats are 2-0 on the season and face Mason City in an away contest on Tuesday.
On the boys side, Humboldt went on the road and defeated rival Webster City 3-2 in overtime. Isaiah Kahl had two goals for the Wildcats and Christian Ramirez scored the game winning goal in the 1st overtime period on a penalty kick to give Humboldt the victory. Humboldt improves to 2-0 on the season. Next up is a home game against Hampton-Dumont/CAL on Thursday.
In golf, Humboldt boys placed 2nd at a triangular on Monday against Spencer and Bishop Garrigan, the Wildcats total was 169, Spencer won the triangular with 154.
Humboldt’s Jayden Gargano was tied for 1st shooting 41 in a 9 hole low, Carson Arndt was 3rd at 42 and tied for 4th was Carson and Parker Sleiter at 43.
In the girls triangular, Humboldt finished in 2nd behind Bishop Garrigan with 203. Nora Carlson was the first place finisher for the Wildcats shooting 41 for a 9 hole low.
In track and field there are two meets on Tuesday for the Wildcats, Humboldt boys are at Eagle Grove starting with field events at 4:00 and running events at 4:30. KHBT will have updates at this meet, the girls track and field team is at Clear Lake at 4:30.
