Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats Boys’ Soccer team defeated the Webster City Lynx 5-1 tonight at the Humboldt High School Soccer Field. With the win, the boys’ team improved their record to a program-best 9-0 to start the season.

The Wildcats got things started early in the 10th minute when Christian Ramirez (So.) found the back of the net from the near post on a perfect pass by Reyes Falcon (So.).  Ten minutes later in the 20th minute, the Wildcats would take a corner kick with Nolan Gustafson (So.) driving the cross through traffic to find Jacob Heier (Sr.), who finished the job with a header past the goalkeeper.

At the start of the second half, Heier would again find the net for the second time in the match off a beautiful pass from Isaiah Kahl (Sr.) to put the Wildcats up by three. In the 51st minute, the Wildcats were presented with another corner kick. Gustafson’s cross was deflected by Heier to the leg of Ramirez, who promptly sent the ball past the goalkeeper for his second goal of the evening. Humboldt would cap off the evening with one final goal in the 64th minute where Gustafson would deliver a short corner to Bayron Regelado (Sr.) to give the Wildcats a 5-1 lead and the eventual victory.

The boys’ team will return to the pitch on Tuesday against the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs at Hampton-Dumont High School. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
