Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats Girls’ Soccer team were edged 1-0 by the Garner-Hayfield Ventura Cardinals at the Humboldt High School Soccer Field tonight. With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 10-6 (7-4 NCC), with one conference game to go.

The game was tied through the first 40 minutes of play and only changed once in the second half, courtesy of the Cardinals’ Tessa Fuentes (Fr.). It was Fuentes who provided the only scoring for either side in the match, as both goalkeepers kept things at bay otherwise. Humboldt’s goalkeeper Maria Elizondo (Sr.) was 5/6 (83.3 SV %) on save opportunities while GHV’s goalkeeper Chloe Frank (Sr.) was a perfect 6/6 (100 SV %) on opportunities for the Cardinals.

The Wildcats’ next match is tomorrow at Lions Field on the campus of Clear Lake High School. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
