Motorcyclist found dead near Oak Lake

Oak Lake, IA – The Kossuth County Sherriff’s Office is investigating a possible motorcycle crash where the driver was found to be deceased. The following press release from the Kossuth County Sherriff’s Office details how the body and motorcycle were discovered in a ditch.

“On July 2nd at about 11:48 p.m. the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a motorcycle in the ditch near the corner of 240th Street and 140th Avenue, about ¾ miles south of the Oak Lake entrance. Algona EMS and officers from the Sheriff’s Office, Algona Police Department, and lowa State Patrol responded to the scene.

The driver, Matthew Dean Strable (age 43) of Urbandale lowa, was located near the motorcycle and was determined to be deceased at the scene by Algona EMS. The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Algona Police, Algona EMS, the lowa State Patrol, and the Kossuth County Medical Examiners Office all assisted in the investigation.

The Medical Examiner ordered an autopsy at the State Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny to determine the cause of death and the lowa State Patrol will investigate the accident. It appears the driver was southbound on 140th Avenue and failed to negotiate the curve near the 240t Street intersection.”

As stated in the press release, law enforcement is currently investigating the incident.
