Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt City Council approved the maximum property tax levy for the upcoming fiscal year in Monday’s City Council meeting.
The city set the maximum amount of $2,421,112 to be collected. The figure is a .57 percent change from the previous fiscal year. The tax rate for the city is listed at 11.78 percent.
The explanation for the rise in the budget in the upcoming fiscal year is due to a miscalculation in valuation amounts by the State of Iowa last year. The miscalculation by the State caused the City of Humboldt to increase levy amounts to cover mandatory expenses.
