One Algona man arrested, another wanted on warrants for drug charges

Algona, IA – One Algona man was arrested and another with an arrest warrant out on drug related charges after a search warrant was executed on Wednesday of last week.

According to a press release from the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at 523 S. Jones St. in Algona. Officers seized numerous items known to be associated with illegal drug use, such as drug paraphernalia, cash and methamphetamine.

33-year-old Richard Folkerts, of Algona, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (Class B felony)
  • Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp (Class D Felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misd.)
  • A warrant will also be issued for Violation of Parole

Arrest warrants were also issued for 43-year-old Justin Terwilliger of Algona.

Terwilliger is charged with:

  • Gathering where drugs (Methamphetamine) are used (Class D Felony)
  • Conspiracy to deliver Methamphetamine (Class B Felony)

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Algona Police Department, and Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office worked on the case. The case remains active and under investigation.
