Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt County Public Safety Commission approved a contract with ISG for design and engineering services for a sally port for the Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) on Tuesday. The contract is in the amount of 46, 900
A sally port is a secure, controlled entryway to an enclosure that is fortified and protected. The entrance is usually protected by some means, such as a fixed wall on the outside, parallel to the door.
Currently, there is a lack of a secure location for the transfer of prisoners being booked or moved from the county jail. Both Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger and Humboldt Police Chief Joel Sanders have advocated for the construction of the port.
Discussions on how to get a sally port built began a year ago.
