ELC shuts out Humboldt 2-0, snaps Wildcats 13-game winning streak

Estherville, IA – The Humboldt baseball team fell in non-conference play 2-0 Tuesday night against 2A power Estherville-Lincoln Central from Hess Limberg Field in Estherville, snapping a streak of 13 consecutive games won by the Wildcats.

Estherville-Lincoln Central would take a 2-0 lead in the third and did not look back as they would defeat the Wildcats by that score. Ty Gargano started on the mound for the Wildcats, tossing 2.1 innings allowing two runs (none earned) on two hits with one walk and three strikeouts and a hit batsmen. Mason Van Pelt would relieve Gargano with 1.2 innings, walking one and striking out three. Chase Hansen wrapped up the game on the mound for Humboldt, pitching 2.1 and allowing two hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

With the loss, Humboldt falls to 17-3 (9-0 NCC) and heads to Clear Lake to face off against the number two team in the conference in the Clear Lake Lions. First pitch from Lions Field is at 7:30 p.m. with pregame on KHBT at 7:20 p.m.
