Humboldt falls to St. Edmond 6-3 in NCC showdown

Fort Dodge, IA- The Humboldt Wildcats fell 6-3 in a game that decided the North Central Conference, with the Gaels winning an outright NCC title for the first time since 2015 after sharing the conference with Webster City a year ago.

The Wildcats would take the1-0 lead in the first with Gaels countering for a run in the home half of the inning. The Cats trailed 3-1 and would tie the game in the sixth on a 2 RBI double by Mia Schluter. It was a bases clearing 3 RBI hit for the Gaels in the bottom half of the inning that proved to be the difference, as the Cats fell 6-3.

Reagan Lee pitched all six innings allowing 6 runs, 4 earned on 9 hits. Lee was 3-3 with a double and an RBI, Schluter had a double and 2 RBIs and Paige Opheim had a single.

Humboldt is now 16-10 (10-3 NCC). The Wildcats will return to action Thursday night at Newell-Fonda.
