(KHBT) – The National Weather Service says little change in the weather is expected today with continued warm temperatures and partly sunny skies, but will then turn more active this weekend.
Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible from early Saturday morning into the evening hours and severe weather is possible with a level two Slight Risk of severe storms across all of central Iowa. The primary threats would be large hail and damaging wind, but a few tornadoes are possible as well. Timing of the strongest storms is uncertain for Saturday as of this time, but strong to severe storms are possible during the morning, late afternoon and evening, or possibly both.
The National Weather Service says those participating in, or planning, outdoor activities Saturday should monitor weather conditions closely and be prepared to identify areas of shelter if necessary.
