Dakota City, IA – A New church in Humboldt will debut this weekend. Co-Pastor of the newly created Victory Church of Humboldt Jennifer Decious says the church was created after a split within Faith United Methodist Church.

Decious will co-pastor at the church with her husband Cris Decious. It was two weeks ago that Faith United Methodist Church in Humboldt took to a vote on whether to remain in affiliation with the United Methodist Church, and after 188 votes were cast, the tally was nine votes short of reaching the two thirds threshold to disaffiliate and for the new church to have taken the property.

Decious says that at an unofficial meeting on Monday, about 75 people attended, but she expects more to be in attendance this weekend. The new church will be located at the Hardy Methodist Church at the Humboldt County Museum in Dakota City and will hold their first service with morning worship on Sunday, July 23 at 10:00 a.m. with fellowship and coffee preceding at 9:15 a.m.

The church also plans on having Sunday school in the fall for all ages and having Wednesday evening family nights.
