Broken gas line causes closures on city streets in Humboldt

Humboldt, IA – A broken gas line in Humboldt has the Humboldt Police Department closing off portions of streets in the city limits until further notice.
According to Humboldt Police Chief Joel Sanders, at approximately 11:00 a.m., construction crews hit a gas line. The closures in Humboldt include 9th Ave. SW between 12th and 13th St. SW and 12th street SW between 10th Ave. and 9th Ave.
The Humboldt Police Department says residents in the area may lose power as crews work to repair the broken gas line. They also advise that people do not go outside in this area, but say residents are safe to stay in their homes.
Work to repair the broken gas line is expected to take several hours today.
