Dakota City, IA – The Reasoner Dam was the topic of discussion again at the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors Monday morning session.

Members of the 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit group River Development Incorporated, a group of Humboldt county residents in favor of saving the dam and Lake Nokomis by taking control of operation for the dam, presented a document to the board of an overview of their objectives, which they say will be at no cost to taxpayers.

The group is looking to Replace the safety cable across the dam, repair or replace the sliding gates, operate and maintain the gates of the dam to evaluate if a channel can be created while attempting to flush sediment out and to install flash boards to raise the water level at Lake Nokomis.

The group met with Supervisors last week with the plan of meeting with the County Conservation Board to work on a plan for operations control.

During discussion, Supervisor Dave Lee stated that the group cannot access the dam as of now.
