Fort Dodge woman sustains serious injuries in alleged dog attack

Fort Dodge, IA – A woman was Life Flighted in serious condition after she was allegedly attacked by three dogs in Fort Dodge.

According to a Fort Dodge Police Department media release, Webster County Dispatch received a call from a resident stating they could hear someone yelling for help. An officer arrived in the area and located a woman being attacked by three dogs. Attempts were made to scare the dogs away to stop them from attacking the woman, but the dogs would not stop. The officer on scene then drew his duty weapon and shot all three dogs multiple times to stop the attack. The attack occurred at approximately 11:25 a.m. in the 800 block of S. 16th St.

The Fort Dodge Fire Department was called to the scene to aid to the female victim with her serious injuries. The victim was then transported to Unity Point Trinity Regional Medical Center by ambulance. As a result of her serious injuries sustained during the attack, the woman was ultimately transported by Life Flight to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

When the release was made public, her condition was unknown. The female victim’s name has not been released by Fort Dodge Police and won’t be until authorities have made contact with her immediate family. All three dogs are deceased.
