Humboldt girls’ basketball defeats Belmond-Klemme 37-33; Mann reaches 1K career points

Humboldt, IA – Humboldt girls’ basketball rang in the new year with a win in a defensive battle against Belmond-Klemme 37-33 Thursday.

Ava Fischer led Humboldt with 15 points and Morgan Mann had 10, including the 1000th point of her career. Mann scored her 1000th career point with her first made free throw of the night in Humboldt’s 37-33 win over Belmond-Klemme Thursday night. She became the second Humboldt player in the 5-on-5 era to reach 1000 points, joining the program’s all-time leading scorer Avery Terwilliger.

With the win, Humboldt improves to 8-3 and is back in action tomorrow night with the boys against Webster City in a doubleheader at Humboldt High School. Coverage starts tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. on KHBT with girls’ tip-off at 6:15 p.m. followed by the boys’ at approximately 7:45 p.m.
