Humboldt, IA – The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) is in the midst of its High Five Initiative that targets the five highest counties in rates of OWIs and non-seatbelt compliance in Iowa.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Paul Gardner tells KHBT news that rates have significantly improved recently.
Trooper Gardner outlines the initiatives main objectives the ISP looks for when out enforcing.
Trooper Gardner says that intersection related infractions have been a focus as of late.
The initiative was launched on December 1, 2022 with the GTSB looking at five years of crash data and at counties with low seatbelt compliance rates.
