Des Moines, IA – The first day of the 2024 State Track and Field Meet from Drake Stadium in Des Moines saw Humboldt athletes compete in four events.
The day would get started with a pair of field events for Humboldt. Tyler Carlson placing 17th in the 3A High Jump at 6’1”. After placing sixth in the Discus in 2023, Ashlynn Works places fourth in the 3A Discus at 127-08. Works will compete Friday morning in the 3A Shot Put.
In running events, Humboldt’s 4×800 relay team of Jackson Dodd, Mason Van Pelt, Peyton Van Pelt, and Elliot Carlson ran a season’s best time of 8:20.34. The previous season’s best was 8:27.73.
In a race that featured seven disqualifications, Humboldt’s Shuttle Hurdle team of Coen Matson, Jackson Dodd, Tyler Carlson and Keegan Groat placed eighth in the prelims to qualify for the Finals on Saturday with a time of 1:02.08.
