Dakota City, IA – A public hearing has been scheduled in the case of a special exception use permit for Cole Anderson to restart a quarry near Rutland after years of inactivity.
After over an hour in a closed session, the Humboldt County Board of Adjustment set the hearing for Monday July 1st at 2:00 p.m. in the Humboldt County Courthouse in Dakota City.
The Board of Adjustment said they would like to revisit the application’s hearing process as there are several new members on the board after a 2020 law had surfaced causing a majority of the board to be ineligible to serve on the board due to their place of residence. The law essentially rendered the previous denial of Anderson’s application as void.
The board in addition to setting a new public hearing has given Anderson seven days to file any changes and additional information to supplement the original application submitted on Sept. 21, 2023. Information that was asked to be provided includes Anderson’s business plan, federal permits and plans, and state permits and plans. The deadline for the paperwork is June 24 to the Zoning Commissioner Randy Krecklow.
