Pocahontas, IA – Authorities say a man wanted on federal arrest warrants is still at-large after last being seen in rural Pocahontas County.

In a press release on Facebook Wednesday morning, the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office says they were notified yesterday at about 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday by the US Marshals that Nathan Edward Nickless, was possibly in Pocahontas County. At about 3:30 p.m., a deputy located Nickless at Casey’s in Pocahontas. When he failed to follow commands and a pursuit ensued, Nickless’ vehicle became disabled on 270th Ave. near the intersection with 470th St., SW of Rolfe where he then fled into a cornfield.

Authorities set up a perimeter with a search that included drones, K-9s, aircraft, and countless law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement abandoned the search at around 1:30 a.m.

Nickless was last seen in a light blue shirt, baseball cap, and shorts. He should be considered armed and dangerous and the public is discouraged from approaching him. If the public does spot Nickless, they are encouraged to call 911. Any other information or suspicious activity is directed to dispatch at 712-335-3308.

The public is being warned to be cautious and to lock vehicles.
