Motorcycle crash east of Algona leaves one dead, another injured

Algona, IA – A motorcycle collision left one man dead and another person injured Sunday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Sunday, 42-year-old Adam Allen of Pocahontas was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 18 just east of Algona when a 2024 Nissan Sentra driven by a 17-year-old from Ackley failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 18 and 160th Ave. The motorcycle driven by Allen collided with the car, killing him.

The 17-year-old driver of the Nissan was not named in the crash report and was Life Flighted to MercyOne in Mason City.

Assisting the Iowa State Patrol on scene were the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Algona Police Department, and Algona Fire and EMS.
