Humboldt Co., IA – Community members are rallying around a north central Iowa mother and son after they were caught inside a home that exploded near the Ottosen and West Bend area.
Cathy Fleischhacker and her son Brett Lanning were able to make it out with help of first responders, suffering injuries in the explosion on September 9.
A bake sale fundraiser is currently being held at the Humboldt County Courthouse in Dakota City for the family until all of the baked goods have been taken. The bake sale is a free will donation.
A benefit to help the family is set for October 12 at the Dakota City VFW.
