Dakota City, IA – The City Council for Dakota City officially swore in their newest council member at Wednesday night’s city council session.
Mychal Edler, a firefighter in Fort Dodge and resident of Dakota City, was sworn in at the start of the council’s meeting to fill a vacancy left by councilman Ted Prenger, who passed away in a UTV accident on June 8. Prenger’s term lasts through December 2025. Edler ran for city council in the 2023 election, but fell short in an election that saw Jon Stern reelected along with the newest members of council Sammi Pals and Ross Newton elected to their first terms.
Edler was unable to attend the council meeting in August to be sworn in when he was accepted to fill the vacancy in a vote by the council.
