Gowrie, IA – The Gowrie man arrested in connection with the death of a 17-yaer-old girl in Farnhamville has now been charged with first degree murder.
21-year-old Nathaniel Kyren Bevers-McGivney was charged with abuse of a corpse, failure to disclose known location and Tuesday night was also charged with first-degree murder. Bevers-McGiney has been taken into custody at the Carroll County Jail.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office began investigating on Sunday after receiving a report of a missing 17-year-old girl in Farnhamville. During the initial investigation, law enforcement detained a male suspect. Law enforcement located the body of the missing victim Monday morning, according to a release. A spokesperson for the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says that her body was found in Farnhamville City Park.
The victim, identified by the Iowa DCI on Tuesday as 17-year-old Michele “Luna” Jackson, was a student at Southeast Valley High School, the district confirmed.
An autopsy was performed and the Iowa DCI says that it will release additional details on the investigation soon.
