Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Hardpack Bike Ride is set for Saturday, September 28.
The Humboldt Hardpack showcases the Three Rivers Trail and raises money for trail improvements. This year’s profits will go to connecting the Three Rivers Trail to the Prairie Rivers Trails in Webster County.
This year’s ride will start in the 700 block of downtown Humboldt. Riders will take Sumner Avenue to 7th Street North in Dakota City (County K) and ride north to the Three Rivers Trail. Riders will continue on the trail to the turn-around point in Thor. The total length of the ride is about 24 miles.
Riders can expect support along the route and a sag wagon if someone needs a ride back to the start.
In Thor, riders may purchase drinks from Unkie’s and snacks from the Humota Theater. Bikers can celebrate the ride’s end with drinks and meals from downtown businesses at picnic tables in the 700 block of Sumner Avenue.
In conjunction with the ride the Hardpack Team is holding a raffle. The premier prize is an electric bike, Trek Townie Go. Trek calls this the “e-bike for everyone combining comfort and control with power and fun.” The Hardpack Team also has many more great prizes: a Trek Domane AL 2 Rim road bike that retails for over $1,000; a sturdy kid’s bikes; many biking accessories; 2 electric grills, and more! Raffle Tickets are available from TractorLift. They are $5 for one or 5 for $20. The drawing will be at noon on September 28, ride day, in front of TractorLift Brewery. Need not be present to win.
There’s still time to sign up for the ride online at www.humboldthardpack.com or fill out a paper registration at TractorLift Brewery. Riders may also sign up on ride day. The cost for the ride is $45. A T-shirt is included based on availability.
Registration the day of starts at 8:00 a.m. and the ride starts at 9.
