Humboldt, IA – The Humboldt Wildcats opened postseason play in the 3A-Region 2 First Round with a sweep of the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals.
The Wildcats won in straight sets 25-16, 25-18, and 25-19 to advance to the 3A-2 Semifinals on the road at Forest City Thursday night. The meeting was the first for Humboldt against Garner-Hayfield-Ventura since records began in the Varsity Bound era (since 2007). Forest City registered a 3-0 sweep against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on Tuesday to advance to the matchup with Humboldt.
With the win, Humboldt is 22-9 (7-0 NCC) ahead of Thursday’s matchup with the Indians. The other side of the bracket will feature Western Christian against Algona after both teams won in sweeps over their first round opponents.
First serve Thursday night in Forest City is at 7:00 p.m. The winner Thursday will advance to Tuesday night’s Regional Final.
